Dateline NBC Correspondent
Chris Hansen is a correspondent for NBC News’ Dateline NBC. In the series To Catch a Predator, Hansen has reported dramatic hidden camera investigations that exposed over 150 men who target young teenagers over the Internet. He looks even deeper into the world of child predators with his new book To Catch a Predator: Protecting Your Kids from Online Enemies Already in Your Home.
Additionally, Hansen has played a significant role in Dateline’s coverage of the war on terror. He was responsible for much of Dateline’s coverage of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Hansen exposed how a group with links to Al-Qaeda tried to buy stinger missiles and other deadly weapons.
Hansen has received numerous awards including seven Emmys for reporting. He has received the Overseas Press club award, an IRE, the National Press Club award and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists Award. Hansen graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree from the College of Communication Arts and Sciences. He resides in Connecticut with his wife, Mary Joan, and their two sons.
