Children's Fund to Distribute 1,400 Care Bags to At-Risk Children

SAN BERNARDINO, CA - On Thursday June 25th, Children's
Fund - a nonprofit organization serving at-risk children in the County-
is distributing 1,400 'My Stuff Bags' to case managers from all four
regions of San Bernardino County's Department of Children's Services.
The Department of Children's Services serves to protect at-risk
children, preserving and strengthening their families, and developing
alternative family settings.

"Each year thousands of San Bernardino County's children are rescued
from dangerous homes and family situations. Traumatized by the events
leading to their rescue, these children often arrive at a safe haven
without anything to call their own: no clothes or comforting toy. Each
'My Stuff Bag' is packed with new donated items (handmade blanket,
toys, toiletries, stuffed animal, and clothing) and is age/gender
appropriate for children or teens," according to Rebecca L. Stafford,
Executive Director of Children's Fund.

The My Stuff Bags Foundation supports nonprofit organizations like
Children's Fund, by providing duffel bags filled with new belongings
for children who enter crisis shelters or foster care with no personal
belongings.

On the morning of June 25th children from Victorville will help the case managers load the bags at the at the Children's Fund Warehouse located at 1010 S. Arrowhead Avenue in San Bernardino. The case managers will then distribute the bags to children throughout the county.

"We want to demonstrate to each child the love and concern Children's
Fund and our supporters have for them," concluded Stafford.
Children's Fund is located at 825 Hospitality Lane, 2nd Floor San
Bernardino. 909-387-4949.

Children's Fund partners with Target Corporation for the holidays.

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – November 5, 2007– Children’s Fund, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to serve as a safety net for at-risk children who are abused, neglected, impoverished, or abandoned; has partnered with Target Corporation to provide holiday gifts to at-risk children in San Bernardino County. On November 7th, 2007 at 9:00 am Children’s Fund will receive over $60,000 in Target Toys purchased for children in San Bernardino County. Target has generously agreed to donate all trucking and transportation for the toys, which will be delivered to the Children’s Fund Warehouse located at 1010 S. Arrowhead Ave. in San Bernardino (just north of Orange Show Rd.) Members of the media are invited to attend this delivery event, and photo opportunities will be available. Representatives from both organizations will be on hand to answer questions.

Rebecca L. Stafford, Executive Director of Children's Fund, explains why the partnership is so important, “Our focus during our Annual Celebration of Giving Campaign is to make the holidays brighter for the thousands of at-risk children in our county. This year, for the 19th Campaign, our hope is that we will be able to reach beyond the 36,000 children served during our 2006 Campaign. Without partnerships with national organizations like Target, it would not be possible to accomplish our goal and express the love and concern our community of supporters feel for each at-risk child we serve.”

Children’s Fund was created in 1986 years ago as the non-profit member of San Bernardino County’s Children’s Network. This partnership provides Children’s Fund an administrative overhead from the County so that every dollar raised by the fund goes directly to a child in need…100%. For over 20 years, Children's Fund has worked to prevent child abuse in San Bernardino County and to ensure that at-risk children in our County receive adequate food, shelter, clothing, medical care and education; and to provide equal opportunity for social development for these children. Children's Fund Receives My Stuff Bags

SAN BERNARDINO, CA - May 8, 2007– Children’s Fund, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to serve as a safety net for at-risk children who are abused, neglected, impoverished, or abandoned; was selected to receive a generous donation from the My Stuff Bags Foundation. The My Stuff Bags Foundation supports nonprofit organizations by providing duffel bags filled with new belongings for children who often enter crisis shelters with nothing of their own. On May 7th, 2007 Children’s Fund received 1,500 bags transported by Stater Bros. Markets to the Children’s Fund Warehouse. San Bernardino County Supervisor Josie Gonzales and Assistant County Administrative Officer Linda Haugan were on hand to welcome everyone and to offer many thanks for the delivery of these much need bags to Department of Children’s Services Case Managers. The Case Manager Representatives from each region of the county eagerly loaded bags into their vans for transport back to each office, where the bags will be stored for distribution to at-risk children when they are removed from their current living situation and delivered to a safe haven.

Rebecca L. Stafford, Executive Director of Children's Fund, spoke to those gathered on why the donation is so important, “Each year thousands of the County’s children are rescued from dangerous homes and family situations. Traumatized by the events leading to their rescue, these children often arrive at a safe haven without anything to call their own: no clothes, no comforting toy or special ‘blankie.’ Each bag is packed with new donated items (handmade blanket, toys, toiletries, stuffed animal, and clothing) and is age/gender appropriate for children or teens. All involved hope the My Stuff Bags not only give these at-risk children much-needed toiletries, but demonstrate to each child the love and concern Children’s Fund and our supporters feel for them each day.”

For over 20 years, Children's Fund has worked to prevent child abuse in San Bernardino County and to ensure that at-risk children who are abused, neglected, impoverished, or abandoned receive adequate food, shelter, clothing, medical care and education; and to provide equal opportunity for social development for these children. Dr. John Husing speaks to Children's Fund

SAN BERNARDINO, CA - April 3, 2008 - Dr. John Husing, one of the 100 most powerful people shaping life in Southern California according to the L.A. Times Magazine, spoke to the Children’s Fund President’s Circle on Thursday April 3, 2008. For the past 43 years, Dr. Husing has conducted extensive research to understand the forces influencing the Inland Empire. He continues to use his extensive knowledge of the region and his political experience to explain the economy to business leaders and policy makers throughout the Southland. At this exclusive event which was attended by the key-decision makers of some of the most successful corporations and organizations in the Inland Empire, including Stater Bros. Markets CEO Jack Brown and Jeffrey Burum of Diversified Pacific, Dr. Husing offered a sneak peek into the impact of housing and national economic difficulties on the Inland Empire economy.

Many in attendance were pleasantly surprised at Dr. Husing's somewhat positive outlook for businesses and real estate in the Inland Empire over the next few years. Children’s Fund Executive Director, Rebecca Stafford, expressed her surprise with the encouraging outlook, “Dr. Husing highlighted the many positive attributes that the Inland Empire holds in Southern California, the most important of which is ‘Dirt.’ The region’s most affordable housing, industrial projects, blue collar jobs, and skilled workers migrating inland help the Inland Empire rise above Los Angeles, San Diego and Orange County. To a non-profit like Children’s Fund this is very good news! We rely on these businesses and their employees to help us fulfill our mission in aiding the increasing number of marginalized children who are at-risk.”

For over 21 years, Children's Fund has worked to prevent child abuse and to ensure that at-risk children who are abused, neglected, impoverished, or abandoned receive adequate food, shelter, clothing, medical care and education; and to provide equal opportunity for social development for these children.

Children's Fund spreads holiday cheer to 37,000 Children.

SAN BERNARDINO, CA - January, 16, 2007 – As Children's Fund’s 19th Annual Celebration of Giving Campaign toy drive comes to a close, we would like to acknowledge our appreciation for the charitable contributions of local businesses, generous donations from individuals throughout the Inland Empire, and tireless efforts from our volunteers. Through the combined efforts of many, we were able to ensure that 37,885 at-risk children in San Bernardino County received a gift during the month of December. Each gift serving as a reminder to the vulnerable foster care and other at-risk youth served by the campaign, that they are never forgotten.

Rebecca L. Stafford, Executive Director of Children's Fund, explains why the program is so important, "I invite you to take a moment to imagine the holidays in the life of a typical “at-risk child” serviced by Children's Fund. While most children wake Christmas morning to enjoy a house full of family, gifts under a tree, and love; our children wake up with no hugs, no love and few who care. This is reality for tens of thousands of children in San Bernardino County. However, thanks to the caring support of Children's Fund and our community of generous donors, thousands of children know just how special they truly are.”

For over 20 years, Children's Fund has worked to fulfill our mission of preventing child abuse in San Bernardino County and to ensure that at-risk children who are abused, neglected, impoverished, or abandoned receive adequate food, shelter, clothing, medical care and education; and to provide equal opportunity for social development for these children.
